Happy Wednesday everyone! It is challenge day over at Cricut Cardz Challenge. Todays challenge was to make a St Patrick's Day card using any cartridge or colors, but no shamrocks.
I got Simply Charmed for Christmas, which I was so excited about! I LOVE how cute this cartridge is! As soon as I saw the cute St Patrick's things, this card lept into my mind. Here it is:
Isn't it cute? The sentiment inside is from Create a Critter, all other cuts are from Simply Charmed. I used one of my cute Peachy Keen stamps for his face, and then decorated him with a little bit of chalk and my white gel pen. I love how cute he is :) The only thing that I might have changed is the size of the pot of gold - I kind of wish I had made it bigger... but I wanted to make sure it fit in an A2 card.
I hope you all come over to Cricut Cardz Challenge and see what DT # 2 came up with, and play along with us. Have a great day!
Some challenges:
My Time to Craft - hats
One Stitch at a Time - anything but a square
Paper Sundaes - masculine colors
Corrosive Challenege - magical creatures
Terifically Thrilling Thursday - anything goes
Crafty Purple Card - something magical
Pixie Dust Studios - shape card

Techno Day...
It is challenge day over at Paper Playtime. This weeks challenge is to use a Technology image: a computer, and mp3 player, a cell phone etc. I decided to make an iPod image - we own a number of iPod products, my kids have Shuffles, my husband has a Nano, I have a Classic and an iPhone. They all come with wires to connect them to the computer, and those wires seem to live in a tangled mess on our computer desk. I decided that I needed a place to put them. Here is what I came up with:
This image is from Smiley Cards, I cut it at 3.6 inches on my Gypsy girl. The "iPod" is cut from Robotz - my go to chunky font.
I bought this little box at my LSS for $1.50, cover it with some paper I had sitting in my stash boxes and voila!!
The perfect box for all those annoying wires :) I am going to have to pick up a few more of these boxes and decorate them to hold other things that are laying around. How perfect would they be for buttons, or bling in my craft room?
Head on over to Paper Playtime, see what the rest fo the design team came up with and play along with us :)

Cupcake card
Good morning everyone. It is challenge day over at Cooking with Cricut. The challenge today is to use embossing on your projects. Her os what I came up with:
I decided to make an easel card. They are one of my favorites and I haven't made one in ages. The cupcake is cut from Create a Critter, I used my Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing folder. The stamp set is from CTMH and I used my Fiskars Threading Water punch to make the layered border edge - I got the idea from Momo. It's a technique she uses some times. Cute, isn't it?
Head on over to Cooking with Cricut, see what the rest of the DT came up with, and come play along with us!

Sweet Treats
Welcome back to Purple Monkey Moments and Day 2 of the CookingWithCricut.com Sweetshop Blog Hop!
If you've come from visiting Melissa at Melissa's Scrappen Place you're in the right place! If you've just happened across my blog and would like to play along with our fun hop, you can go to CookingWithCricut.com and start at the beginning. Click HERE.
With Valentine’s Day just a few days away we are sharing some wonderful ideas and inspiration for your viewing and crafting pleasure! Each Design Team member will be featuring a project each day (Saturday & Sunday) made especially for this hop. Make sure to check out each DT member's blog and collect the special letter there. There will be prizes along the way at our DT members' blogs, AND there will be some nice PRIZES with a few different ways to win at CookingWithCricut.com!
Today's project is extremely simple. After making 18 treat bags for my daughter's birthday party last week, I decided I didn't want to make another 30 :) I wanted something quick and easy, that could be quickly replicated. I decided to make lollipop covers. I followed a tutorial by the wonderful Emma, that I found HERE. So here are my cute and simple lollipop covers:
I used George and Basic Shapes to cut the rectangle for the cover (6" x 2.25") and to cut the heart (1.3"). The cutie face on the heart is from Peachy Keen Stamps - I love them :)
I punched 1/8th inch holes with my Crop-a-dile. I then tied the bow, and stuck a twist tie through it so I could fasten the cover shut. Isn't that brilliant? Emma showed me that on her video... The stamps on the front and back are both from Stampin Up.
I decided to use 2 lollipops in each cover. I had hoped to find a thicker lollipop. but my local bulk barn didn't have any.
My daughter thought these were so cute, and the best thing?? I spent $1.50 on lollipops - so much better than the $15 I spent on treat bag candy last week :)
I have 2 giveaways of you today. The wonderfuland talented Melin has donated cut files/ digi stamps for each of us to giveaway, and I have some stamps as blog candy too! The winner of this prize can decide if they want Melins design as a digi stamp, or a cut file. Here it is:

Sweet Shop Blog Hop Day 1
Welcome to Purple Monkey Moments and the CookingWithCricut.com Sweetshop Blog Hop! There will be some great blog candy to win along the way! More on that in a moment!

There will be prizes along the way at our DT members' blogs, AND there will be some nice PRIZES with a few different ways to win at CookingWithCricut.com! I decided to make a toilet paper roll album. I love these! They are fun and easy to make, and make fabulous gifts. I followed THIS tutorial from Mary at Cardz TV. Here is what I made today:
The patterned paper I used through out this album is from K and Co's Valentine's paper pack. The "love" is cut from Sweethearts.
The "hugs" and heart are both cut from Smiley Cards. Aren't they cute??
Because this album is for my husband, I decided to put sweet little love quotes on the opposite sides. The pictures are hidden, you will see where in a minute...
The sentiment on this page is from Create a Critter, and the sparkles up lips are from Indie Art.
The ends of each toilet paper roll are help together by little eyelets. The eyelets help create a little pocket inside the toilet paper roll.
The X and O are also from Smiley Cards. I love that cartridge! Thank you provocraft for giving Gypsy owners such a great downloaded cartridge :)
Inside each of the 4 little pockets, there is a tag.
The tags are where I decided to hide the pictures - super cute, isn't it?

Fishy Kisses
If you are looking for my DT submission for Cooking with Cricut, please click HERE.
Another double design team day for me :) The challenge over at Cricut Cardz Challenges this week is to come up with a valentines card using blue, green and white only. I was stumped for a minute - no pink? no red? really?? Then I remeberd this great stamp I have that says "fishy kisses" and the idea, evolved from there. Here it is:
Isn't that fishy fabulous?? I cut her from Smiley Cards - the free Gypsy download we got last fall - then I embossed her with my Tiny Bubbles cuttlebug folder. The hearts the sentiment is on are cut with an old Creative Memories punch, and the patterned paper - which I thought looked a bit like seaweed, is from an old 6x12 pad from Provocraft. The stamp is from my Simply Sweet set - which is currently unavailable, so no link today - hopefully this fabulous, versatile and huge set of stamps will be available again soon, I will let you know...
Head on over to CCC, see whay DT#2 came up with for this color challenge, and play along with us :)
Don't forget, this weekend is the Cooking with Cricut blog hop, with candy at every stop :) Hope to see you all there...

Go Wild!
Sorry for the late post - these night shifts are really cutting into my blogging routine. I must get better with pre-scheduling my posts - but that would involve organization, something I am not so hot at :) The Challenge today over at Cooking with Cricut is to use hearts and flowers. Here is what I came up with:
Isn't my girlie Zebra a cutie? She is cut from Create a Critter. The hearts are from George, as are the squares they are sitting on. The stamps is from Joy's Life - Lots of Pun. The cardstock is a mix from my stash and the patterned paper is from an old Cricut 12x6 stack for Animal Kingdom.

Purple Elephants??
My baby girl turned 5 last week. It was a little bit shattering, but also very exciting. The day before her birthday I registered her for school, it is hard to believe that the baby days in my life are gone. I am soon to be the mother of two school-age children...
Todays post isn't paper crafting related at all, it is more food crafting related. I made my daughter an elephant cake - she insisted it be purple... so here it is:
She wanted flowers on it, so I faked my way through it. She loved it, which is all that matters :) Here she is about to blow out her candles:
I hope you all come back tomorrow, I will have my design team submissions for Cricut Cardz Challenge, and Cooking With Cricut. See you all then :)

Hearts and Cupids and a new Blog Design
Happy Monday everyone :) It is a sunny, cold day here in Nova Scotia, with a break in the snowstorms, although we are expecting another 6-12 inches in the next 48 hours - the joys of winter... So, are you loving my new blog design? I won a mini-makeover during a blog hop a couple of weeks ago from Michele over at Now Stamp This, and Madeline over at Shabby Vanity did a fabulous job! I hope, over time, to be able to get some more upgrades from Madeline, but for now, this is perfect!
Today is challenge day over at Paper Playtime. The challenge today is to make a project using hearts or cupids. I decided to use both :) Here is what I came up with:
I cut the box from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More. The cupid is from Sweethearts, and the top of the box has a phrase from Create a Critter that says "I love you" - well it says I "heart" you...
The cute heart paper is from a valentines stack from K and Co. It has the cutest paper! I just adore it.
I welded the heart to the box on two sides using my Gypsy girl. The heart is from George and Basic Shapes. I put a sheet of acetate inside the box, covering each of the hearts. I am going to make 3 more boxes, and fill each one up with Hershey's kisses, one for each of us, for Valentines day :) The cardstock is from Stampin Up and I doodled with my Sakura white gel pen.
I hope you all pop over to Paper Playtime, see what the design team came up with and play along :)
Some Challenges:
Crafty Hos - love theme
Pear Tree Designs - free for all
The Crafty Pad - love is in the air
Tueday Throwdown - add stitching
ECP Challenges - love
Polka Doodles - hearts
Raise The Bar - hearts

Smooches!!
Happy Friday! It is challenge day over at Flaunt it Fridays. The challenge today is to use those fabulous lips from Indie Art. Indie Art is not a cartridge I owned until the free Gypsy download - so thanks Prove Craft :) Here is the project I came up with today :)
So I completely stole this idea from Gigi over at The Cricut Bug. She made a fabulous heart shaped box that you can see HERE - the instructions are there too. As you can see, I filled the little box with Barbie nail polish - we didn't have chocolate yet...
The paper is all from Stampin Up, those cute little pearls are from Close to my Heart, they were a free gift from my consultant. I did some doodling with my Signo white gel pen. I am really happy with how it turned out.
Head on over to FIF, see what the design team came up with to inspire you, and be sure to play along :)

Piaroa kids snack on tarantulas in the jungle
This cute little clip from the BBC's new Human Planet series follows a group of young Piaroa children from Venezuela's Amazonas State as they hunt for spiders to snack on.
These are no ordinary spiders, but the largest spider of all, the fearsome Goliath tarantula (Theraphosa blondi) which can give a nasty nip with its venomous fangs and also protects itself with irritating urticated hairs
